What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver/Transportation Aid position at Cedarwood?
Cedarwood Rehabiliation and Healthcare Center is looking for a compassionate and reliable Van Driver/Transportation Aid.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Transport residents from building to designated appointments and returns.
- Transport new admissions when required.
- Log all mileage as permitted.
- Log costs to submit to NHA.
- Log all transport in transport log and record all trips when completed.
- Weekly check of residents appointments, make schedule. Coordinate with Nursing for appointments needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the NHA but not limited to examples: Inspect daily and label all resident clothing. Label doors & wrist bands for all new Residents. Update of Resident’s code status and fall risks. Mark door tags, ID bands, and charts with appropriate symbols.
- Make up nursing packets with nursing for trips.
- Assist other departments when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times as per HIPAA regulations.
- Driver preferred to be nurse aide, does not need transport assistance for all rides, at the discretion of the DON.
Equipment Operation to Perform Essential Functions:
- Safely operate facility vans and lifts.

- Active and in good standing drivers license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires demonstrated knowledge and skill in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Escort/Transportation service; drive and assure the Facility vans are maintained in a safe, compliant and road-worthy manner, in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the this facility, and all applicable state laws and regulations; demonstrate ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Position requires prolonged standing, sitting, walking, frequent bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, lifting, and stretching; lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Previous work experience in the health care of the older adult preferred.
Certificate/Licenses: Valid PA driver’s license and have an excellent driving record. Current PA CNA certification. Must be CPR and basic first aid certified.
