Client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Specialist II to join our dynamic procurement team. The Procurement Specialist II will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services essential for our biotech research and development, and manufacturing operations. This role will contribute to cost savings, efficient supply chain management, and ensuring timely delivery of critical resources. - Source and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
- Issue purchase orders and track order status to ensure timely delivery.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends and supplier capabilities.
- Manage and procure various materials including but not limited to, lab supplies, chemicals, reagents, equipment, and services, specific to biotech applications.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.
- Conduct supplier audits and evaluations as needed.
- Resolve supplier disputes and negotiate favorable terms.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records.
- Prepare and analyze procurement reports and metrics.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements specific to biotech procurement (e.g., GMP, GLP).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including research and development, manufacturing, and quality control teams, to understand their procurement needs.
- Provide timely and accurate information to stakeholders regarding procurement status and timelines.
- Work closely with quality assurance to ensure proper vendor qualification and material qualifications.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock levels.
- Assist in inventory control and management.
- Assist in the disposition of obsolete inventory.
Educational Pre-requisites:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, life sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or related industry.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles and best practices.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems. Netsuite experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of GMP, GLP, and other relevant regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
- Experience with lab equipment, chemical, and reagent procurement is highly valued.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar certification is a plus.
- Frequently use of office equipment that requires manual dexterity to operate (i.e. computers, phones, etc.).
- Occasional carrying, handling, and reaching for objects up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Requires operational discipline to consistently focus and execute work-related tasks, with a minimum of human error and supervision. This involves self-checking of work immediately upon completion, and the ability to find / correct errors.
- Ability to elevate potential concerns/discrepancies to supervisors or management in a timely fashion.
- Ability to manage time effectively to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously required
- Ability to use problem-solving techniques to ensure project goals are met.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written are necessary to communicate within different departments and with external clients, maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Ability to adhere to ethical standards of conduct as well as applicable state and federal laws.
- Onsite position in Redmond or Woodinville, WA. No remote or hybrid work is available for this position.
- Primarily this position involves working in an office environment.
- Occasional work in a temperature-controlled environment may be required.
- Ability to travel between facilities depending on business needs.
- Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
