What are the responsibilities and job description for the Protein Scientist (Chicago, IL) position at CEDENT?
Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the planning and execution of research projects
- Develop new downstream processes for proteins made from our expression host for a wide range of proteins
- Transfer processes to commercial manufacturing facilities
- Streamline bioprocesses to reduce the overall cost and improve efficiency of purification and characterization
- Maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results
- Create and document new internal lab processes
We're looking for a candidate with the following required qualifications:
- An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific field OR 5-10 years of industry experience with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field and
- Experience designing, planning and executing experiments in a laboratory setting
- A demonstrated ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments
- The agility, curiosity, and drive to tackle projects varying from downstream purification to strain engineering and everything in between
Additionally, an ideal candidate will also have:
- Experience in protein downstream processing, including converting benchtop processes to industrial processes
- Knowledge of analytical methods commonly used for protein purification
- Experience in bioprocess development and optimization in an industrial or biomanufacturing setting.
