Job Responsibilities
- Performs the duties of a pharmacist working in a specialty pharmacy in compliance with policy and state/federal regulations.
- Works in cooperation with all other pharmacy departments.
- Maintains clinical competency in compliance to policy and sufficient to meet pharmacy standards for patient safety and effective therapy, including clinical monitoring, assessments, adherence and compliance; dispenses and performs clinical activities to these standards
- Ability to complete day end assignments – prints daily prescription log, regulatory and other company reporting as well as performing computer backup procedures daily if applicable
- Ability to review drug-drug interactions and manage patient medication regimen accordingly
- Provides direct supervision to pharmacy interns and pharmacy technicians working with the pharmacist. Direct supervision means that the pharmacist has reviewed the prescription or drug order prior to it being dispensed, has verified the final product, and is immediately available on the premises to direct the work of interns and technicians and respond to questions and problems
- Implements policy and regulatory required record systems and processes for the pharmacy
- Practices the concept of clean claims through compliance to proper pharmacy billing procedures
- Works with supervisory staff to continually develop and implement ideas for delivering high quality, cost effective services
- Works independently; demonstrates leadership in the practice of pharmacy
- Participates in the pharmacy on call rotation
- Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures; developing and implementing new strategies and procedures (performance improvement) including best practices
- Knowledge of accreditation standards and requirements
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures
- Other tasks as assigned by Management
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
- Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School
- Current NY Board of Pharmacy license
- Ability to communicate well and manage people
