Position Overview:
The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Assembly Department. This role supervises a team of approximately 10-13 individuals who are solely responsible for assembling tractors, attachments, implements, and components. There is no manufacturing process involved as the vehicles already function upon arrival. Assembly mostly consists of wheel/tire and a front-end attachment installation. These tasks are considered light assembly but steady to high volume should be expected. In addition to supervising the Assembly Operation, the Assembly Supervisor will be responsible for repairing non-conformant material in regard to damage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly responsible for all Assembly employees; monitor their productivity and set individual goals, track progress and reviews.
- Complete departmental reports including daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports or as requested by senior management.
- Monitor the assembly schedule to ensure builds are completed by the assigned due date.
- Ensure that all builds meet or exceed KIOTI quality standards, and that all non-conformance is reported appropriately.
- Plan, organize, and monitor assembly operations to meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives with assistance from management, to optimize Assembly processes.
- Utilize training videos, documentation, and workshop manuals to assist technicians as needed.
- Responsible for promoting safe work practices among employees to meet or exceed OSHA standards.
- Establish and enforce mandated quality control procedures to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues and communicate issues appropriately.
- Maintain proper level of consumable goods (i.e. gloves, towels, tools)
- Collaborate with the Maintenance department to ensure the proper maintenance and repair of Assembly equipment.
- Minimize downtime through proactive maintenance planning.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficient practices.
- Ensure proper training and development of Assembly Technicians and workers.
- Ensure that inventory repairs, mainly consisting of cosmetic blemishes are repaired in a timely manner and the items are returned to a salable state.
- Work alongside Inventory Supervisor to combat non-conformance build-up.
- Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred
- Previous supervisory experience in a team format is required.
- Training in related areas of mechanics and/or assembly preferred.
- 5 years of assembly related experience required.
- Training in overhead hoist equipment will be required annually.
- Must be willing to become forklift operator certified and comfortable moving large items around in a warehouse environment.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and a strong ability to solve problems independently.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs periodically.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or kneel throughout the workday.
- Must have computer experience with: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
