We are seeking a MEP Construction Superintendent to join our growing team. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks related to our projects, including assisting in day-to-day operations on the project site and managing control of the short-term schedule. You will assist the team in obtaining, evaluating, and coordinating all information needed to construct the energy efficiency project in accordance with the contract documents and to assure that the work meets all safety standards, and is within scheduled field requirements.
Location: Must reside in the Metro Washington DC area or willing to relocate upon start. Upon joining, must be willing to travel to client project in SC. Future long-term project work is in the Washington DC area.
Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications to devise construction procedures and technical needs.
- Ensure an adequate field workforce through collaboration with subcontractors and clients.
- Supervise subcontractors field productivity to align with job cost budgets.
- Monitor and coordinate fabrication shop activities, ensuring shipment accuracy.
- Provide hands-on assistance at the job site for field crews, optimizing productivity.
- Assist project staff in planning work sequences and material needs.
- Support installation of various equipment, troubleshooting, and warranty work provided by subcontractors or manufacturers.
- Contribute to the development of team members through technical mentoring.
- Oversee equipment rentals for optimal utilization.
- Schedule, monitor, and address subcontractor progress and performance.
- Prepare written daily reports of work performed daily for client review.
- Coordinate material and equipment deliveries with subcontractors, and the client as necessary.
- Produce updated Project Schedules and 3-week lookaheads to review with Project leadership.
- Assist the Project Manager in communicating project goals and objectives to the client and leadership team.
- Collaborate with Project Development Teams to determine project and schedule requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high aptitude, energy, and motivation, and an acute passion for managing sustainability / clean energy projects. Ability to travel to client locations for duration of project delivery is necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred OR an Associate level technical degree in HVAC/Plumbing would be considered.
- Minimum 7 years of experience supervising or performing heavy MEP work to include new construction and retrofit applications such as Chiller installation, industrial spec AHU replacement, boiler work, duct demolition and replacement, etc.
- OSHA-30 certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days
Additional Qualifications
- Current or previous journeyman/master electrician certification a bonus.
- Proven experience or OSHA 30 certification safety standards, building systems, engineering, and construction regulations, practices, and codes.
- Computer software proficiency with Procore or equivalent systems desired
- Computer software experience with Oracle P6, AutoCAD is nice to have.
- In-depth knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, workforce, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field operations.
- Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee is at risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
