General Summary
Join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer, where you will leverage your applied engineering experience to support safety, quality, and cost objectives. This hands-on role focuses on equipment and process improvement, making it ideal for candidates with a background in manufacturing and mechanical engineering. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement enhancements in our roll forming, plating, and stamping processes.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement: Plan and implement machine and process enhancements with a focus on roll forming, plating, and stamping to improve safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Root-Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses to identify root causes of issues and implement effective countermeasures.
- Documentation: Improve and update General Engineering Design and Process Planning Sheets to align with best practices.
- Spare Parts Management: Prepare spare parts based on availability and mean time between failures to ensure operational continuity.
- Capability Studies: Initiate setup and process capability studies, establishing conditions for sustained operational capability.
- Trial Builds: Conduct internal trial builds and coordinate external run-offs in locations such as the U.S.A. and Japan.
- Project Timeliness: Complete assigned tasks and projects promptly to meet divisional goals.
- Machine Recovery Support: Assist in troubleshooting and recovery for complex machinery issues, including contingency planning.
- Design Collaboration: Work closely with the design team to optimize product designs for cost-effective and efficient manufacturing.
Qualifications and Preferences:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience demonstrating the application of basic engineering principles.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience, particularly in applied engineering roles
- Proficient in reading and interpreting 2-D blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Basic proficiency in CAD software for design reviews, plant layouts, and tooling improvements.
- Familiarity with problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, SPC, Six Sigma, and DOE.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as assembly, testing, roll forming, plating, stamping, and welding (MAG, TIG, resistance).
- Basic programming experience with HMI/PLC logic (Mitsubishi, Omron).
