Location : Hybrid – Cumberland, RI (M / W / F remote, T / Th on-site)
Job Summary
The Billing Specialist is responsible for providing expertise, analysis, and solutions to complex supplier coordination (ESG), billing, regulatory processes, and technical challenges with a focus on improving operational effectiveness and excellence. This role requires in-depth knowledge of supplier activities, billing processes, and the supporting systems. The Billing Specialist proactively monitors operations to identify and resolve potential concerns and serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on projects impacting billing and ESG billing while enhancing business process understanding across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and provide solutions to complex billing issues.
- Enhance understanding of end-to-end meter-to-cash processes across teams.
- Review and document business processes and system usage in detail.
- Monitor and analyze system control reports to identify and resolve issues.
- Implement new controls to improve operational efficiency.
- Develop training materials and provide guidance to internal teams.
- Perform account data repairs to enable accurate customer billing.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and ESG.
- Investigate and respond to inquiries from internal and external customers (Call Center, Business Accounts, and Suppliers).
- Identify opportunities to leverage information technology for process improvement.
- Define requirements, create process flows, test, and implement billing system enhancements driven by regulatory orders or business improvements.
- Assist with business case preparation for process improvements.
- Draft clear, comprehensive communications with minimal supervision.
- Facilitate meetings and deliver impactful presentations.
- Collaborate effectively across departments, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- On-site presence is required for effective coordination with teams.
- May be assigned an emergency and storm role , requiring after-hours work to support power restoration and customer service efforts.
