Job Title: Safety Professional - Occupational Safety
Location: Hybrid - (Onsite Monday–Thursday, Remote Friday) | Lake Buena Vista, FL 32836
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon-Fri 8am – 5pm | Minimum 40 work hours per week.
Duration/Length of Assignment: 12 Month Contract to Hire
Additional Information: Up to 25% travel required

Position Overview:
This position supports a large-scale safety initiative focused on enhancing compliance, safety operations, and performance improvement across cruise line private island destinations and onboard ship activities. The Safety Professional will support a Performance Alignment (PA) project within the cruise operations division. This initiative is designed to drive consistency, improve process documentation, and strengthen compliance efforts. The selected candidate will join a cross-functional team supporting both shore and ship-based operations, working in close collaboration with various stakeholders, including subject matter experts (SMEs) and safety leaders. The Safety Professional will contribute to safety assessments, documentation updates, training support, and compliance implementation related to guest and crew activities. The individual in this role will be responsible for conducting evaluations, reviewing historical safety data, auditing island operations and shipside activities, and integrating findings into actionable improvements. This role requires frequent collaboration with internal departments and SMEs to support regulatory compliance efforts and drive the effectiveness of safety-critical programs. Reporting updates to the project manager and maintaining alignment with corporate safety standards will also be key functions of the position.
Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in safety, public health, or safety management
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or Public Health
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and applicable safety standards
- Experience interpreting and applying health and safety regulations, manufacturer's requirements, and organizational safety policies
- Proven analytical ability to assess performance data, recognize patterns, and identify trends
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and work in a dynamic and changing work environment
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work occasional 2nd/3rd shifts or off-site when required
- Consultative and influencing skills to support internal collaboration and decision-making
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential
- Familiarity with the Performance Alignment model
- Prior experience in the cruise line industry
- Knowledge of IMO (International Maritime Organization) and CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) standards
- Advanced degree in Occupational Safety or Public Health
Day to Day/Responsibilities:
- Model safe behavior at all times while promoting safety-first practices to crew members and internal partners
- Interpret and apply OSHA standards, safety policies, and manufacturer's requirements to ensure compliance across multiple environments
- Participate in ongoing project review sessions to identify procedural improvements and share feedback with project stakeholders
- Assess and analyze safety performance for cruise line private islands and specific shipside activities using incident history, audit reports, and available safety data
- Observe island operations and shipboard procedures to develop a comprehensive understanding of business needs and existing safety challenges
- Review internal processes to recommend improvements and integrate safety planning for guests and crew
- Collaborate with internal team members and subject matter experts (SMEs) to draft or revise key safety documentation and procedural materials
- Assist in the development and implementation of compliance-related processes and safety procedures
- Participate in training, audit, and assessment activities associated with critical safety processes
- Support updates and communication regarding the Safety Management System (SMS) by providing status updates to the DCL Performance Alignment Manager
- Ensure project deliverables align with broader organizational goals focused on safety and regulatory compliance
- Remain flexible in scheduling and location to accommodate necessary fieldwork and off-site support
