What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional SY24-25 position at Ceiba College Preparatory Academy?
The Paraprofessional supports Ceiba’s Student Services team across the school and plays an important role in providing Ceiba student support. Paras works closely with Ceiba education specialist/resource teacher, classroom teachers, and the Director of Special Education to provide individual and small group behavioral and academic support. The position is paid 100% with ESSER funds.
Reports to: Director of Special Education
RESPONSIBILITIES
Become familiar with appropriate program activities and institutional materials
Conduct individual and small group instructional lessons and/or activities, as directed
Assist Resource Teacher in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students and monitor their progress
Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and assist them in developing appropriate skills
Assist Resource Teacher with administrative duties as assigned
Assist with school coverage as needed (classroom, arrivals, breaks, lunch)
Support admin and front office team with campus supervision as needed
Maintain a safe, secure and peaceful environment
Support and assist in the enforcement of program and school rules
Attend staff development for the teaching staff
Perform other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education.
OR Possession of an associate’s degree or higher
OR Pass the CBEST (California Educator Credentialing Examinations) or other Ceiba test
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Two or more years of experience working with children in a school setting
