What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrumentation and Electrical Reliability Engineer position at Celanese?
The Instrumentation and Electrical Reliability Engineer will be responsible for improving and sustaining instrumentation reliability at the Wilmington plant, while supporting site and corporate goals/requirements for Process Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Cost.
- Define proactive maintenance strategies (preventive, predictive, failure finding) to improve instrumentation reliability.
- Perform root cause analysis on instrumentation failures, develop corrective actions and track results.
- Recommend instrumentation changes to improve reliability, providing justification & utilizing Management of Change process.
- Manage high level troubleshooting of instrumentation issues to support 24x7 operations.
- Support outage work related to instrumentation reliability.
- Support the SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) Program, following the Celanese work process.
- Review of specifications & vendor submittals for major project new instrumentation.
- Provide instrumentation input during Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) sessions.
- Perform annual self-audit of site Mechanical Integrity program for instrumentation, using Celanese audit protocol.
- Technically coordinates work of I/E technicians; identifies personnel training requirements.
- Leads program specific bad actor analysis and resolution
- Eliminates high consequence failures
- Hires and leads I&E contractors
- Orders key parts from vendors that meet plant expectations.
- 6-10 years Instrumentation/Electrical Reliability experience
- B.S. Engineering or equivalent industrial experience in lieu of degree
- Hands-on experience with improving instrumentation reliability.
- Intermediate capabilities with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Use of a Root Cause Analysis methodology.
- Deep knowledge of process plant instrumentation.
- Experience with the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies.
- Knowledge of PHA's and safety reviews, MOC, and Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Capable of handling several projects and support activities simultaneously.
- Candidate must have good technical writing and presentation skills.
- Experience with the Reliability Centered Maintenance process.
- Experience with SAP, or other CMMS, with ability to mine data for reliability analysis.
- Familiarity with ANSI/ISA-84.00.01 Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes, such as API, ISA, & NFPA
