Film Lead

Location: Central Office

Reports to: Communications Director

Summary of Role

Lead and direct film productions, direction of workflow and development of videos that impact the weekend and weekly presentation of Celebration Church and its campuses

Position Status & Schedule

• Exempt
• Full-time (40 hours)
• Monday through Friday; hours vary per week dependent on conferences and events scheduled; may include weekends and evenings
• Christmas, Easter, and Dream Team Appreciation service dates/times are black out days for time off. Other events will be required outside your regular schedule; you will be informed in advance of these requirements

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Leadership

• Provide leadership and direction to the Film Department at Celebration Church
• Model and carry a culture of creativity and excellence throughout the Film Department
• Function as a Lead within the Branding Team Structure
• Review and approve storyboards for minor projects. Work alongside Branding Director for large projects and associated approvals
• Supervise and lead direct reports to ensure they are developed and supported within their areas
• Recruit, train, and lead the Film Dream Team

Creative

• Collaborate with ministries to conceptualize, produce, and edit video and marketing pieces in support of the vision of Celebration Church across all campuses
• Creatively inspire the Film Staff Team, while ensuring alignment, cohesiveness, and quality of deliverables
• Create storyboards for video shoots
• Direct compression, conversions, and archival of projects and footage for efficient use of storage and cataloging
• Builds treatments alongside the film team for upcoming projects

Administrative

• Oversee team crew schedules for video productions
• Oversee timeline management for video productions
• Oversee equipment rentals for site and location shooting
• Manage inventory, condition, and use of Celebration equipment

Financial

• Lead annual budget planning efforts, collaborating with Branding Director for overall alignment on financial targets
• Oversee and review monthly Film budget for stewardship and accuracy
• Maintain up to date expense report
• Utilize purchasing processes for approval, ordering and payment of services and items for project work

Competencies

• Passion to connect people to the local church through creative film efforts
• Meet deadlines within or below approved project budgets
• Direct, oversee, and create videos through pre-production, production, and post-production
• Expert skills in Premiere Pro and After Effects
• Knowledge and understanding of film/video gear
• Organized, detail-oriented individual with a commitment to and passion for excellence
• Ability to focus in a collaborative, energy-filled environment
• Self-motivated and determined with a strong work ethic
• Proven experience as a creative thinker and problem solver
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work occasionally outside normal business hours
• Proficient in macOS and Microsoft Office Suit

Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree in film-related field (or relevant and equivalent work experience)
• Minimum 2 years of experience directing and/or editing
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading teams
• Portfolio or link to recent work samples required

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office and Church facility.
• Must be able to position self to maintain supplies and equipment on lower shelves and in closets.
• Frequently move supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
• Constantly work in open office environment
• Ability to work outside in various climates and temperatures
