Description
Phoenix Foundation, NFP was founded in 2021 to seek housing solutions for homeless people during the pandemic, particularly those individuals and families with histories of substance abuse or history of justice involvement and other behavioral issues. As a new woman led BIPOC organization in Chicago, Phoenix Foundation has already achieved remarkable success in our mission to end generational homelessness. Our organization’s success is reflected in our recent partnership with a developer who sought us out for our expertise in creating affordable and permanent supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness.
Homeless Shelter Case Aides provide supportive services related to case plan activities and operational functions related to running a 24/7 residential facility. They are expected to function effectively in performing all duties assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
· Provide housekeeping and/or light maintenance as necessary to maintain a healthy and safe environment
· Discuss guests concerns and household needs, and assess environment
· Provides liaison communication between guests and agency staff.
· Monitors health and safety issues as assigned
· Assists with the pickup, distribution and storage of purchased and donated items;
· Assist in the serving and preparation of meals for guests
· Receive, inventory, maintain inventory logs
· Provide key access as appropriate to guests
· May perform bedbug/lice checks at new resident entry and/or during their stay; including putting new guests’ items in the hot box
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIRED:
· Must be willing and available to work various shifts as needed and assigned by management for a 24/7 facility, including an overnight shift
· ServSafe Certification Required
· General knowledge of janitorial and maintenance services
· May require the possession of a valid Illinois driver license
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
