Financial Analyst

Summary:

Financial Analyst responsible for site accounting (monthly close) and financial planning & analysis

Detailed Description:

This is a critical role as the sole financial analyst supporting the manufacturing of aerospace & defense components on the north side of Tucson, AZ, with guidance from the on-site Controller. This position interfaces with and reports out to the management team on a regular basis using input from the operations team and centralized support teams located around the world.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Prepares annual budgets, monthly financial reporting packages including forecasts, results and financial and operational metrics, as well as, weekly status updates.
• Completes special projects involving the analysis of financial information related to inventory, costs, headcount and labor costs, profit maximization, expense targets both within finance or as members of a cross functional or customer team.
• Provides product cost analysis and pricing support for all products in production for the site – including material standard cost analysis and updates to the Material Master in SAP.
• Creates and posts journal entries to close the books
• Completes balance sheet account reconciliations with variance explanations that highlight the purpose of the balance and key drivers of change.
• Problem solving & complex reconciliations

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset.
• Strong knowledge of basic computer applications and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department including SAP and office systems.
• Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
• Ability to recommend accounting process changes based on intimate knowledge of accounting processes, policies and procedures. ~Ability to direct others on accounting practices.
• Ability to manage the budgeting/forecasting process.
• Ability to analyze and summarize key highlights and makes recommendations to management for plan/forecast savings.
• Perform financial sensitivity analysis against all key factors (pricing, operating and costing) and provide management with recommendations/solutions.
• Makes recommendations based on interpretation of results.
• Ability to consolidate, manipulate and analyze large quantities of data.
• Advanced Excel user (LOOKUPS, SUMIFS, Power BI tools). Knowledge of Blackline and Longview systems.
• Understanding of the relationships between the various tools.
• Understands how to use the political structure in the organization and how to get things done using that structure.
• Ability to prioritize competing deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate financial risks & opportunities to enable data-driven decision making.

Physical Demands:

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
• Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc)
• Occasional overnight travel may be required

Experience:

• Three to six years of relevant experience

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Education experience may vary by geography.
