Correctional Clinical Psychologist
Facility: Green Bay Correctional Institution
Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week (Typically 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $116 per hour
Job Summary:
The Green Bay Correctional Institution is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological services to incarcerated individuals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of forensic psychology and demonstrate expertise in conducting assessments, providing therapy, and developing treatment plans within a correctional setting. This role demands a commitment to ethical practice and a dedication to promoting the mental well-being of individuals within the institution.
Responsibilities:
- Psychological Assessments: Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, including risk assessments, personality assessments, and cognitive assessments.
- Evaluate inmates for mental health disorders, substance abuse issues, and other psychological needs.
- Provide expert testimony in court or parole hearings as required.
- Individual and Group Therapy: Provide individual and group psychotherapy to address mental health disorders, trauma, and behavioral issues.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each inmate.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups on topics such as anger management, substance abuse, and coping skills.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support to inmates experiencing acute mental health crises.
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Collaborate with correctional staff and medical personnel to ensure the safety and well-being of inmates.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Consult with correctional staff, medical personnel, and other professionals regarding inmate mental health needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Provide training and education to correctional staff on mental health issues.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and services provided.
- Adhere to all ethical guidelines and professional standards of practice.
- Comply with all policies and procedures of the Green Bay Correctional Institution and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- Valid and unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state of Wisconsin is REQUIRED.
- Board certification in Clinical Psychology is REQUIRED.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of post-licensure experience as a Clinical Psychologist, preferably within a correctional or forensic setting.
- Strong knowledge of forensic psychology and experience conducting psychological assessments in a correctional environment.
- Excellent clinical skills and experience providing individual and group therapy to diverse populations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with severe mental illness and substance abuse disorders.
- Knowledge of Wisconsin state laws and regulations related to mental health and corrections.
- Experience with risk assessment tools.
