Job Summary:
Hillsborough County School District is seeking a dedicated School Social Worker to provide comprehensive counseling and support services to students, families, and school staff. This full-time position plays a vital role in fostering a positive school environment, promoting student well-being, and ensuring access to mental health and social services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop intervention strategies that enhance student success.
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized support plans for students and families in need.
- Act as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources to ensure students receive necessary support services.
- Assist in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and case management for students experiencing trauma or distress.
- Promote mental health awareness and social-emotional learning programs within the school district.
- Advocate for students' needs and help remove barriers to academic achievement.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all state and district policies regarding student support services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop and implement interventions.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or eligibility for licensure in Florida preferred.
- Prior experience in school-based counseling or child and adolescent social work is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of mental health, behavioral interventions, and crisis response strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally competent support.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between school sites as needed (mileage reimbursement available).
