Job Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) – Correctional Facility
Location: Johnston Correctional Institution, Smithfield, NC
Position Type: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, No Weekends
Pay Rate: $49 per hour
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview:
We are seeking a committed Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide mental health services at Johnston Correctional Institution within the North Carolina Department of Corrections (NCDOC). This role involves conducting mental health assessments, individual therapy, and screenings to support inmates' behavioral health needs and reintegration into society. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a clinical setting and a strong understanding of correctional mental health care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct mental health assessments, individual therapy, and screenings for inmates.
- Provide individual and group counseling to support emotional well-being and re-entry preparation.
- Assist inmates with goal-setting, coping skills, and vocational readiness for life post-release.
- Develop and implement case management plans tailored to inmates' social, emotional, and vocational needs.
- Collaborate with correctional staff, community service providers, and employers to facilitate reintegration support.
- Facilitate life skills workshops, career readiness programs, and substance abuse interventions.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in training, meetings, and professional development to stay updated on best practices.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Active Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in North Carolina.
- Experience: At least one year of clinical experience (preferably in corrections, behavioral health, or social work).
- Certification: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through AHA or ARC (not required for submission).
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, substance abuse issues, and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
