Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our team in a Michigan-based correctional facility. This role is critical in providing behavioral health services and facilitating successful reintegration for inmates transitioning from prison life to civilian life. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of social work experience and a commitment to supporting the re-entry process, including career counseling and life skills development, to help individuals secure employment and adapt to life outside the correctional system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group therapy to inmates, focusing on mental health support and counseling related to re-entry into society.
- Assist inmates in developing strategies for reintegration, including personal goal setting, coping skills, and adjustment to societal norms.
- Develop and implement case management plans that address the social, emotional, and vocational needs of inmates preparing for release.
- Collaborate with correctional staff, community service providers, and employers to create a network of support for inmates transitioning to civilian life.
- Conduct assessments and provide therapeutic interventions for inmates dealing with trauma, substance abuse, mental health disorders, and other issues impacting successful re-entry.
- Facilitate workshops and programs focused on life skills, career readiness, and employment opportunities after release.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding inmate counseling and case management.
- Participate in regular training, meetings, and supervision to stay current with best practices in correctional social work.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Licensed as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the state in which the position is located. The license MUST be in good standing. Limited Licenses are accepted.
- Experience: 1 year of relevant LMSW or LPC experience.
- Certification: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with a diverse population.
- Experience with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, substance abuse issues, and trauma-informed care practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of re-entry challenges, job readiness, and vocational rehabilitation.
