We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our healthcare team within a correctional facility near Bertie, NC. The Nurse Practitioner will provide primary and urgent healthcare services to incarcerated individuals, ensuring their medical needs are met in a timely and compassionate manner. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position offering a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact on the health and well-being of this population.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary care and medical assessments for patients within the correctional facility.
- Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
- Order, interpret, and monitor lab work and diagnostic tests as needed.
- Prescribe medications and treatments within the scope of practice.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and correctional facility personnel to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Educate patients on health management, preventative care, and self-care techniques.
- Perform routine physical exams, screenings, and immunizations.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans accurately in the electronic health record system.
- Respond to medical emergencies, provide triage and stabilization, and initiate treatment or refer as appropriate.
- Adhere to all correctional facility protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain safety and security while providing care.
