Position Overview :
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team at The Academy of Spectrum Diversity. This position is specifically for a therapist to work with children on the autism spectrum, providing speech and language therapy to support their communication, social interaction, and academic development. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and a strong understanding of individualized therapy approaches.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide speech and language evaluations for students with suspected or diagnosed communication disorders, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans (IEPs) to address each student's speech, language, and social communication goals.
- Work directly with students to improve speech clarity, language comprehension, social communication, and pragmatic skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to create and implement effective strategies for supporting communication and social skills development in the classroom and throughout the school environment.
- Monitor and document students' progress toward therapy goals, adjusting interventions as necessary to meet their evolving needs.
- Provide recommendations for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices or strategies when appropriate.
- Educate staff and parents on communication strategies and techniques to support students' progress.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP meetings, to contribute insights into each student's progress and needs.
- Support the creation of a positive, inclusive environment that fosters social interaction, communication, and learning for students with autism.
