Compensation Range: $31 - 32 per hour
As a Global Apparel Materials (GLAM) Color Developer, you will be the main point of contact partnering with Cross Functional teams to execute seasonal color direction. You will use your color knowledge and collaboration skills to help execute design led color palettes and be responsible for on-time buy ready commercialization. You will help lead and implement the design and development of tools and processes to support color execution for Apparel. You will facilitate and track lab dips for seasonal initiatives and identify and address key issues and challenges in color development. You will ensure on time development according to critical dates and gates. In this role you will have the opportunity to interact with business teams involved in design, materials, product merchandising, product creation, material manufacturing and product integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the materials creation process from initial concept through to commercialization and production for assigned materials to lead to on time delivery and development according to critical dates, product specification, sustainability, performance and profitability goals.
- Creates and revises appropriate documentation for assigned materials; ensures all appropriate development documentation is maintained including product specs and prototypes.
- Tracks and facilitates sampling and prototyping for materials; identifies and addresses key issues and challenges in manufacturing and plans accordingly to deliver proven and tested materials.
- Monitors and communicates challenges throughout testing process to meet materials integrity requirements.
- Keeps abreast of market trends, new technology and consumer preferences.
- Collaborates with manufacturing to drive the pricing process.
- Serves as a technical advisor on materials to Product Developers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel, Textiles or a related field (2 additional years' experience in lieu of a degree).
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentations.
- Ability to pass the Munsell Hue color test to determine visual color acuity.
- Understanding of the application of color on materials.
- Knowledge of apparel and material construction, including garment construction.
- Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong information seeking-skills and a drive to make things happen.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.
- Ability to network and utilize internal and external resources.
- Self-starter attitude and the ability to be a team player within a fast-paced team.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience with InDesign or Photoshop is a plus.
- 5-10% travel required.
- Knowledge of heather materials and techniques.
- Knowledge of product creation process and the apparel business.
- Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives.
