Compensation Range: $78 - 84 per hour
We’re looking for a Head of Design to shape the next 20 years of our client's Adventure Business line. This role requires experience in technical apparel and footwear, a passion for the outdoors and fitness, and an understanding of diverse consumers. You’ll lead a dynamic design team, fostering empathy, communication, and growth. This is a unique ground-floor opportunity to build a new product line and make a lasting impact for one of the top retail brands.
This role will be reporting directly to Chief Product and Merchandising Officer. This is a unique opportunity to build a new product line from the ground up, influence the direction of a well-established brand, and lead a team of talented designers. The role offers potential for equity and bonuses in addition to a competitive salary. Freelancers/contractors will be hired to support the team.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the design strategy for the new Adventure Business line.
- Build and mentor a high-performing multi-disciplinary design team (apparel, footwear, graphic design).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, product development, etc.).
- Set a clear vision for the line and foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Hands-on involvement in design and development.
- Establish partnerships to expand the brand's reach.
- Proven experience in technical apparel and/or footwear design.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and coaching abilities.
- Passion for the outdoors, fitness, and a deep understanding of consumer needs.
- Experience building and managing a design team is a plus.
- Experience in a fitness brand.
