Compensation Range: $51 - 56 per hour
Our client in the beauty retail space is seeking a strategic and agile Product Development Manager for a short-term contract covering maternity leave. Responsibilities:
As a key leader on our Product Development team, you will:
- Manage project timelines, identify key tasks/milestones, and mitigate risks for on-time launches.
- Present launch and project reviews to senior leadership, driving risk escalation and resolution.
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop innovation briefs aligned with profitability and sustainability goals.
- Guide cross-functional teams, including Operations, Research, and Industrial teams, to achieve project milestones.
- Analyze feasibility in terms of cost, timeline, and sustainability, ensuring every project is "Launch Ready."
- Lead plant transfers, packaging component development, and harmonization initiatives as needed.
- Stay on top of emerging trends in the product development landscape and bring fresh ideas to the table.
- Manage projects through the Quality Compliance Process (QCP) with precision.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members on areas like feasibility costing and risk assessments.
- Develop and manage project timelines, identifying the key tasks and milestones and minimizing areas of risk to ensure on-time launches in compliance with the Quality system.
- Present launch transversal project reviews and drive risk escalations to Operational and Divisional leadership teams.
- Guide Marketing in new innovation product briefs and conception definitions to ensure design to Agility / Profitability.
- Engage Operations and cross functional stakeholder participation and ownership for transversal projects.
- Lead project review meetings and drive resolution of roadblocks impacting projects.
- Analyze and drive launch viability in terms of cost, timeline and sustainability.
- Develop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends within the PD discipline.
- Drive risk assessment with cross-functional partners within Operations and Research and Innovation (R&I) to create and track mitigation plans and secure approval of sound, technical backup options to maintain project timelines.
- Partner with Marketing, Operations and R&I on harmonization, profitability and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage plant transfers as requested.
- Communication Link (between the Division & Industrial teams).
- Manage projects through QCP (all aspects).
- Feasibility Costs and COG analysis.
- Value Analysis support to plant and team.
- Research and Development coordination.
- Research and develop packaging components.
- Interface with all manufacturing management and associated or related functional areas.
- Provide Development support to team members as needed on projects; example: guidance on feasibility costing as they relate to aesthetic choices to assure timely cost effective launch.
- Meeting coordination, minutes & follow-ups.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years in product/package development or project management (cosmetics, consumer goods, or similar industries preferred).
- Experience with global markets and technical packaging is a big plus!
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field.
- Proven leadership abilities and the confidence to inspire cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to manage complex projects seamlessly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and familiarity with feasibility costing, COG analysis, and QCP processes.
- Must be team-oriented, with the ability to build and nurture strong relationships across various departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Client systems or a track record of quick adaptability to new environments.
