Are you a detail-oriented Technical Designer with a passion for children's apparel? Our retail client is seeking a Contract Technical Designer to join their team in the Kids Category. In this role, you'll develop garment standards, ensure product quality, and collaborate closely with vendors, buyers, and internal teams to bring high-quality, value-driven designs to market.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and communicate fit and specification requirements to vendors through technical reports, sketches, and detailed measurements.
- Ensure all garment specifications meet company sizing and construction standards in collaboration with agents and factories.
- Review fit and production samples for compliance with construction standards, fit, and sizing.
- Approve specifications for bulk production while ensuring quality and consistency.
- Conduct fit sessions using Alva forms and make necessary adjustments for optimal garment execution.
- Work closely with the Product Development team to promptly resolve any technical issues.
- Recommend improvements in garment construction and quality.
- Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years of experience in spec'ing, fitting, and grading children's apparel.
- Strong technical background in garment construction, grading, and pattern making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM software.
- Knowledge of garment testing standards and protocols.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly skilled in garment fit evaluation.
