Job Description
The Quality Control Technician oversees the production process and conducts testing to ensure that all products meet consistent standards of safety and quality. This position implements quality control tests, inspects products at various stages and documents deviations and supports the quality system processes including internal audits, HARPC, GMP’s, Environmental, local, state and federally mandated programs. This position uses knowledge of regulatory requirements to assess, document and make recommendations for the quality and correction of manufactured products.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct physical inspections of products from raw materials to packaging to ensure internal quality standards, safety and customer specifications are met.
- Spot analysis of formulas, labels, and ingredients to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Collect samples production lines to test for defects or deviations.
- Maintain and update product and packaging specifications and ensure that they are followed by all employees.
- Along with the Maintenance Department monitor the performance of equipment including computer settings to ensure all are working properly for the product being produced.
- Ensure production is not hindered by quality testing procedures.
- Complaint monitoring and follow-up to ensure quality system is effective and followed.
- Ensure that employees are trained in HARPC preventive action processes and complete daily documentation and testing, including metal detector testing. Analyze results of deviations and offer suggestions to Shift Supervisors, Maintenance and Sanitation.
- Read and monitor all production reports and schedules, product specifications, and formulas to instruct employees when needed.
- Enforce quality system policies and processes in production and packaging of products.
- Maintains records of HARPC training activities and completion for all employees annually.
- Maintain knowledge of and enforce, along with department managers, all company policies, federal, state, and local laws on food safety.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, associates or undergraduate degree in quality systems, management, or similar a plus
- Excellent communication skills, as well as detail-oriented to identify areas of improvement and ensure customer satisfaction
- Excellent computer competence, including database management
- Knowledge of quality terminology, methods, and tools
- 1-2 years as a quality technician or inspector, working with quality systems
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Salary: Starting from $36,000.00 per year.
