The Equipment Operator Lead is also responsible for safely directing operations and personnel when the Manager is not on site, or available.

Job Summary
The Equipment Operator Lead is responsible for management of the day-to-day operations, Safety, Environmental, and maintenance of assigned yard, within company policies and procedures. The Equipment Operator Lead is also responsible for safely directing operations and personnel when the Manager is not on site, or available.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Aggregates Manager the staffing of yard personnel during high volume days
- Promotes safety within assigned aggregates yard and serves as an example using visible felt leadership
- Responsible for ensuring employees are identifying and submitting Safety Improvement Card (SIC) opportunities
- Safely operate front-end loader for loading of aggregate material in trucks
- Ability to offload aggregate material using the offloading system including, but not limited to, climbing stairs, operating pumps, and monitoring control gates and meters
- Perform railcar movement activities including switching, moving railcars, making safe connections, and clear communication between the ground and the locomotive operator
- Perform regular preventative maintenance duties including, but not limited to, greasing and light maintenance
- Perform the safe operation of a locomotive (company owned and/or third party owned) and trackmobile
- Safely operate a Bobcat and/or similar equipment
- Perform clean-up work as necessary to keep tools, equipment and working areas clean, orderly and safe
- Adhere to call CEMEX and OSHA rules and regulations at all times, and wear proper safety equipment while on company property
- Able to understand, interpret, and execute instructions given in both verbal and written form
- Recognize potentially hazardous situations and address them in a timely manner
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
- High School diploma/GED equivalent
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in rail operations and/or maintenance, and/or industrial setting
- Qualified by a third-party certification service for safe rail operations
- Possess basic mathematical skills (adding and subtracting)
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic typing skills
- APEX and SAP knowledge a plus
- Be able to read, write, and speak English
- Bilingual a plus
- Ability to work variable shift hours and be flexible with scheduling, overtime and weekends
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location, which includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, safety vest, and steel-toed lace-up boots
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
- Lifting of moderate to heavy items
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
