Position: Structural Analysis Engineer
Location: Dulles, VA

The Tactical Space Systems Division designs, builds, and delivers space, defense, and aviation-related systems to customers worldwide. The main products include:
Launch vehicles and related propulsion systems
Missile products, subsystems, and defense electronics
Precision weapons, armament systems, and ammunition
Satellites and associated space components and services
Advanced aerospace structures
The Tactical Space Systems Group is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to assist an experienced team of mechanical engineers in performing mechanical and structural analysis on one or more spacecraft systems or subsystems.
Responsibilities:
Performing static and dynamic structure analysis.
Reviewing requirements for materials, structure systems, and subsystems.
Selecting appropriate technical information and data from applicable products.
Determining technical principles, identifying the design path forward, and computing engineering characteristics to ensure consistency with space application specifications and design needs.
Releasing results as technical documents after review by senior team members.
Developing innovative solutions and elaborating on design concepts.
Evaluating completed designs with supervisors and other technical groups, making necessary modifications for optimal design.
Developing, coordinating, and conducting test programs to evaluate design work.
Required Skills:
To be considered for this position, candidates must minimally meet the following qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 5 years of experience OR
Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
Mechanical Engineering or degrees with a focus on Structural Analysis are highly preferred.
Technical Skills and Required Skills:
Ability to perform structural engineering tasks associated with analysis, design, and/or testing of structures.
Experience with Mechanical Analysis tools, including:
NX FEMAP/NASTRAN (Equivalent spacecraft structural analysis tools may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
Experience with spacecraft or subsystem static/dynamic testing.
- Proficiency in MATLAB.
