About this opportunity:
Cenovus Energy Inc. is seeking a dedicated Assistant General Counsel for our Dublin, Ohio office. This role supports our US commercial and business operations, reporting to the Head of Legal for the United States. You will lead and manage legal matters related to trade, Department of Transportation, PHMSA, security (including DHS and cybersecurity), and refined product sales agreements. Additionally, you will provide support on procurement and government relations.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with Customs, Government Relations, SCM, Marketing, Legal, Leadership, Security, and Regulatory teams.
- Handle files autonomously with little direction.
- Successfully implement and manage legal strategies for the US Downstream business.
Who you are:
- Legally authorized to work in the US.
- Proven 15 years of experience is required with a license to practice law in the State of Ohio or the ability to waive into the practice of law in the state of Ohio.
- Deep knowledge in trade, including cross-border Canadian customs issues.
- Substantial experience in security, including Department of Homeland Security and cybersecurity.
- Background working on matters involving the Department of Transportation.
- Preferred experience in procurement, government relations, and refined product sales.
