SUMMARY
The Assistant Coach shall assist the Head Coach in directing and supervising all aspects of the sport, including eligibility, practice, transportation, awards, equipment purchase and maintenance, equipment inventory, field preparation. Adheres to district policies/procedures and the WIAA rules and regulations. Promotes excellence and good sportsmanship.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
- Must have thorough knowledge and experience in sport involved.
- Three years coaching experience preferred. Head coaching experience desired.
- Interpersonal skills which promote strong positive attitudes with students, staff, and community.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must hold and maintain a current first aid card (in addition, a current CPR card is highly recommended).
- Is knowledgeable of rules set down by WIAA and the District.
- Must have current fingerprints on file or be willing to be fingerprinted.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Works with the Athletic Director in establishing non-league schedules for each season.
- Attend meetings as called by the Athletic Director and/or Head Coach.
- Supervise athletes at all times. This includes practice, games (home and away), on buses, and in the locker room.
- Infuse citizenship into coaching arenas.
- Provide a positive, productive climate in the gym.
- Follow school policy and expectations for student athletes.
- Cooperate with other staff regarding help for students in the areas of health, attitude and learning issues.
- Enforce the extra-curricular code.
- At the end of the day, see to it all students are gone, equipment stored, towels picked up, lights out, and doors properly secured.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Notify Athletic Director of all injuries and fill out accident report.
- Teach skills and techniques of the sport but also teach sportsmanship, loyalty, honesty, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.
- Enforce, consistently and fairly, the school code for extra-curricular participants.
- Responsible for helping prepare the practice area for that day’s work out.
- Prepare and maintain sporting equipment and gymnasium.
- Notify of injuries/accidents. Maintain appropriate first-aid procedures.
- Stay abreast of all new laws and regulations pertaining to sport.
- Communicate with Head Coach.
- Other related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year are determined by the negotiated agreement and the needs of the District.
Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearance of the background check.
