POSITION: Delivery Driver
LOCATION: Service Department - Transportation Department
HOURS: 8 Hours Per Day (8:00am - 4:30pm)
DAYS: 260 Days; July - June (will be prorated based on start date)
SALARY: $20.12 - $27.85 Per Hour (Range D)

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT/S: The position of Delivery Driver transports school and dining services supplies, mail, dining services revenue from district buildings to the directed destination. This driver is also responsible for loading and unloading delivered items. The position is assigned to move staff work materials from one building to another. The position is often assigned to move district equipment from one location to another. The position assists in the warehousing of surplus furniture and equipment and providing schools with appropriate furnishings for students and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Drive vehicles for the purpose of transporting supplies to designated sites.
- Report vehicle maintenance requirements to transportation and supervisor.
- Assess building furniture needs and means to provide for needs.
- Prepare outgoing mail and shipments.
- Unload items for the purpose of distributing shipment to assigned site locations and/or individuals.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Assist with duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS – QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience Preferred: Experience in delivery, transportation, loading and unloading.
- Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skills to safely drive utility vehicle. Operate vehicles for extended periods of time. Develop good rapport with other employees.
Knowledge of safe driving practices.
Abilities to walk for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, drive for extended periods, read maps and schedules, adhere to route schedules and maintain written records. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation/field of vision. Some assignments may require working in inclement conditions.
Ability to speak a second language preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent.
LICENSES, BONDING AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED: Valid driver's license and Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (applicant agrees to assume cost upon offer of employment).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel. Reports to the Transportation Director.
