Job Summary
The Revenue Cycle Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the revenue cycle process. Duties
- Review and analyze patient accounts to ensure accurate billing and collections.
- Post Insurance Payments and process claim denials as necessary.
- Process medical claims using appropriate coding systems including ICD-9 and ICD-10.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary medical records for billing purposes.
- Conduct follow-ups on outstanding claims and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) regulations and compliance requirements.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively to communicate with clinical staff and insurance companies.
- Ensure all billing practices adhere to legal and ethical standards within the healthcare industry.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medical collection processes.
- Experience with medical billing and coding, including familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG systems.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple accounts efficiently.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
- Knowledge of eClinicalworks electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
