Job Summary
Busy, well established rheumatology practice is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of healthcare billing experience, including collections experience. Prior Authorization experience is a plus. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable and perform medical collections as necessary.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ensure that all billing processes adhere to established protocols within the medical office.
- Process Benefits investigations for patients' treatment. Discuss with patients as needed.
- Assist in the prior authorization process for new treatment and therapies for patients.
- Process patient enrollment in patient assistance programs.
- Work with various insurance portals to assist in processing of claims .
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding and medical collection processes.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required.
- 3-5 years medical experience required, including collection process.
- Prior Authorization experience a plus.
