GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Speech Language Pathologist:
- implements speech, language, voice, fluency, or dysphagia therapy services with students at The Center for Autism Education
- uses a variety of communication modes with the students, including sign language, oral, written, and low to high tech augmentative/alternative communication
- performs diagnostic evaluations at school district or parent request
- produces a hard copy of diagnostic evaluations completed
- identifies and prepares present levels of academic achievement function (PLAAF) and proposes goals for Individual Education Plans (IEP)
- submits all IEP information on students to the Special Education Case Manager in written format
- consults with and makes recommendations to Special Education Program Coordinator/Teacher, Classroom Supervisors, Behavioral Assistants, and school district coordinators for generalization of skills learned in therapy to the classroom setting
- consults with and makes recommendations to parents for generalization of skills learned in therapy to the home setting
- records data on IEP goals weekly and marks quarterly progress as collected by the Special Education Director
- records student attendance and therapy time spent with each student
- educates staff on pertinent speech and language topics
- maintains supervision and safety students at all times
- attends required staff development training
- completes Safe Crisis Management training and effectively uses restraints/transfers with student’s in crisis
- Effectively able to stoop, bend, lift up to 20 pounds, kneel, sit on the floor, walk a distance of up to one mile at a time, and run at a brisk pace in order to support a student who elopes.

In addition, continuing education will be obtained on a regular basis to maintain certification, licensure, to remain current within the field of autism practices and behavior strategies, and to ensure quality of work.

Qualifications
The employee should demonstrate the philosophy and values of The Center for Autism Education, adhering strictly to the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Code of Ethics while giving leadership and innovation in the education field. A Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders or Speech Language Pathology, a state licensure in the field of Speech Language Pathology, and Clinical Certificate of Competence by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) is required to perform this job. It is recommended that the Clinical Fellowship Year be completed prior to assuming this position at The Center for Autism Education.
Salary : $48,000 - $55,000
