What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Center for Change?
Training for this position will be onsite at Copper Hills Youth Center at 5899 W Rivendell Drive, West Jordan, UT 84088 for the first 30 days of work. While your primary work location will be a Center for Change Orem (1790 N State Street, Orem UT), this position requires you to be willing to commute to work onsite at Copper Hills Youth Center once per week after initial training is completed.
Center for Change is a 60-bed healthcare facility dedicated to helping women recover from anorexia and bulimia. The Center is respected for its programs, progressive outlook, and for its major contributions in research and treatment in the field of eating disorders.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in timely preauthorization of insurance benefits
- Meets with clients to discuss insurance copayments, accounts, and arrangements for payment
- Provides excellent customer service
- Ensures timely collection of client accounts and monitors processes, procedures and timely closure of client records
- Bills insurance companies and clients
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred, but not required.
- Time Management: flexible and able to assess the priorities of the department on a daily basis. Able to complete all tasks accurately and timely within tight timeframes and meet attendance guidelines.
- Communication (including written) and analytical skills: able to work as a positive team member and compose professional documentation / appeals and efficient justifications based on accurately analyzing data.
- Proficient with excel, word, and computers
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, insurance terminology, and billing standards required and experience with health insurance billing / collection being highly preferred.
- All Center for Change staff must be able to pass a criminal history background check
