Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Bilingual Parent Educator to join our team in our Bringing Up Babies program. This is a full time position that provides home based psycho-educational visitation services to parents of young children with a focus on use and implementation of the PAT curriculum.
**This position will include an increased pay rate for bilingual candidates to reflect their valuable language skills and contribution to our team and community.
Summary of Duties
- Provide home based parent education and support services at the convenience of the family using the Parents as Teachers curriculum.
- Caseload 18-20 families. Visits will be 36-40/month
- Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation for each family served.
- Provide referral and advocacy to needed services within the community including assistance with medical care, mental health needs, finances, housing, school and job training for families.
- Watch videos of personal visits and/or shadowing of parent educators delivering personal visits during training and review the affiliate plan, model components, Essential Requirements, and login process prior to PAT trainings.
- New parent educators must shadow at least one personal visit prior to training, and shadow at least one group connection event and one child screening within six months of Foundational and Model Implementation training.
- New parent educators must be observed conducting at least one personal visit, one group connection, and one child screening and provided feedback within the first six months after Foundational and Model Implementation training, and again at one year.
- Shadowing, mentoring, observation, and training specific to the newly hired parent educator is provided within the first 90 days of hire.
- Provide community service providers with information about home visitation services. Maintain linkage to service providers to facilitate referrals.
- Encourage and assist pregnant parents to obtain regular prenatal care and to access regular medical for themselves and their children.
- Provide crisis intervention services to families as needed.
- Complete all pre-service and in-service training required by Parents as Teachers endorsement.
- Seek additional training for specially identified service needs.
Experience
- Provide monthly Group Connections, family-friendly activities for client with an emphasis on child development and relationship-building.
- Maintain certification in Parents as Teacher curriculum and Model Affiliation.
- Maintain all required documentation for Parents as Teachers in the organization’s database.
- Perform initial screenings, obtain consents, and provide privacy notice and family rights information, and releases of information as needed.
- Partner with the family to assess strengths and needs of the family for creation of Family Support Plan
- Administer, score, and share Ages and Stages Questionnaires, including ASQ and ASQ:SE, with primary caregivers.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and current case records on services provided.
- Organize and facilitate the general education parenting seminars to be provided monthly by CCFI staff.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in child development, behavioral health, or related field. Actively enrolled with minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Preference will be given to fluent or bi-lingual Spanish-speaking applicants that have previous work experience with Hispanic children, adolescents and their caregivers
- Home Visitation services will be based out of Cleveland County
- Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience using the Parents as Teachers program model.
Other Requirements
- Submit to an employment background check
- Attend staff meetings, training, board meetings, etc., as required
- Utilize PAYCOM to track time and activities to meet funding source and general management requirements
- Perform other duties as required
