Job Summary
The Insurance Advocate plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient processing of insurance claims and managing patient records within the dental office setting. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and managed care processes. The Insurance Coordinator will work closely with patients, and insurance companies to facilitate accurate billing and reimbursement.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance information to ensure accuracy before services are rendered.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure accurate coding for procedures and diagnoses.
- Assist patients with inquiries regarding their insurance coverage, benefits, and billing statements.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, medical coding practices, and managed care regulations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
- Understanding of dental terminology and procedures helpful and preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records. This is a must.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
- Proficient in using office software applications for documentation and communication.
- Ability to assist in the process of patient dismissal for their appointment that includes giving estimates for future treatment, collecting and posting payments. Experience in this area is preferred.
- Ability to recognize that your defined role will change as there is a need in other areas in the front office.
- Friendly, eager to learn, initiative driven, team player is a must.
