What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Center for Elders' Independence?
The Position: The Accountant is a full-time position reporting to the Accounting Manager. The Accountant is responsible for all general accounting to ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance with Grant and GAAP reporting requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performing accounting processes including month end close process, journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Provides monthly variance analysis and determines cause of change of Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
- Prepare bank deposits, bank transmittal, and post to proper revenue / balance sheet account.
- Prepare audit schedules as requested for annual external audit firm and regulatory agencies.
- Assists with preparation of annual budget.
- Process EZ-Cap claim check run and post transactions to financial systems.
- Assists department owners with distribution of financial reports and supporting with any follow up.
- Attends meetings and assists with related projects as required.
- Provides suggestions for improving processes.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures.
- Follows all CEI Policies and Procedures.
- Complies with all training requirements.
- Maintains a courteous, helpful, and professional attitude on the job. Displays a willingness and ability to be responsive to all customer groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting. Healthcare Industry experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Accounting ERP. Extensive knowledge of Excel and Word software. Ability to create complex spreadsheets.
- Firm understanding and application of GAAP.
- Accurate and efficient in coding, data entry and document processing.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines considering changing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
