JOB DESCRIPTION
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
The Center for Elders’ Independence is a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the elderly) organization that uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care planning and care implementation for the purpose of providing high quality, affordable, integrated health care services to the elderly, including an Adult Day Health Center, and promoting autonomy, quality of life and the ability of individuals to live in their communities.
The Position: The Senior Accountant is a full-time position reporting to the Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant is responsible for all general accounting to ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance with State, Federal and GAAP reporting requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Management of all accounting processes including month end close process, IBNR, CMS, prepaid expense, journal entries. Bank and account reconciliations. Prepare and monitor depreciation schedules and fixed assets. Review detail from subsidiary ledgers monthly
- Provides monthly variance analysis and determines cause of change. Scope includes the P& L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare bank deposits, bank transmittal, and post to proper revenue / balance sheet account
- Participate in annual audits including state, government agencies. Prepare and supply documents required by auditors to ensure smooth audit and posts any and all audit adjustments
- Coordinates with business sites in the preparation, implementation, and compliance of management reporting and analysis requirements
- Assists with preparation of annual budget
- Prepare Board Package analysis and actual vs. budget monthly report for operating expenses as well as capital improvement management
- Reconciles all balance sheet accounts monthly and performs tests of the accuracy of revenue and expenses
- Prepares financial projections and prepares various versions of financial reports for various committees
- Assists with providing financial data to numerous stakeholders in the organization
- Creates and maintains procedures to ensure compliance with CEI policies and contractual obligations and to improve department efficiency for all A/R functions
- Attends meetings and assists with related projects as required
- Provides suggestions for improving processes
- Takes lead in updating chart of accounts as needed. Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures
- Follows all CEI Policies and Procedures
- Complies with all agency training requirements
- Maintains safe working environment by following CEI’s safety P&P’s
- Maintains a courteous, helpful and professional attitude on the job. Displays a willingness and ability to be responsive to all customer groups
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires at least 4 years experience in accounting. Experience with healthcare preferred.
- Requires at least 2 years experience as a senior accountant, public accounting experience a plus.
- BA degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software. Extensive knowledge of Excel and Word software. Ability to create complex spreadsheets.
- Ability to solve problems and audit accounts, and prepare reconciliation reports for audit purposes
- Accurate and efficient in coding, data entry and document processing
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines taking into account changing priorities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to compose original correspondence.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Maintains relations with contract officers and staff at the State and Federal agencies.

Salary : $76,690 - $115,003
