Full Time Salaried Position- Regional Social Enterprise Manager
Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, Memphis, TN, New Orleans, LA

The Opportunity  

Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, Social Enterprise, the Regional Social Enterprise Manager (RSEM) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the success of daily operations for CEO’s transitional work crews/sites in regional area. 

The SEM trains and coaches the Site Supervisors and local Social Enterprise Managers in a CEO region to be effective leaders and mentors. They coordinate with Fleet Management to maintain vehicles, tools and equipment, coordinate with Employee Experience to ensure that all positions are filled with qualified Site Supervisors and local Social Enterprise Managers, oversee all administrative paperwork for crew contracts and invoicing, manage relationships with crew customers, and collaborate with the Site Directors, Regional Directors, other Social Enterprise Team Members, and the Sales Team to ensure the management of quality crews.

Who We Are

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration. Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

Who You Are   

  • You have 5 years of experience leading and supporting diverse, high-performing teams to effectively serve customers and achieve program outcomes through coaching, training, and development
  • Ability to travel to visit all sites within region 
  • You’ve exercised a high level of personal integrity and commitment to excellence, CEO’s mission of supporting formerly incarcerated individuals with employment, and deep impact  
  • You’re experienced in training and developing staff into strong performers who consistently meet expected performance goals  
  • You’re able to identify and anticipate problems, analyze problems, identify potential solutions, and decide on and implement a course of action (you’re also able to coach others to do the same)  
  • You build rapport and collaborate with colleagues and external partners, maintaining a network of resources that support your work  
  • You work effectively under pressure and at a sustained pace, managing to partner expectations while maintaining focus on objectives despite setbacks or opposition   
  • You’re a strong communicator, able to adapt and tailor your communication style to meet the needs of and influence varying constituents  
  • You have experience training and developing staff into strong performers who consistently meet expected performance goals    
  • You have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, as well as the ability to work flexible shifts
  • You're familiar with general labor, construction, landscaping or grounds-keeping, maintenance, or other skilled trades; experience operating site equipment, including 15-passenger vans with trailers attached
  • You effectively work under pressure and at a sustained pace, managing to partner expectations while maintaining focus on objectives despite setbacks or opposition
  • You demonstrate respect, fairness, patience and efficiency to participants, employees and others and are adept at fostering an inclusive work environment

Major Responsibilities 

  • Key responsibilities of the Regional Social Enterprise Manager include but are not limited to:

    Social Enterprise Operations Management

    • Monitor and evaluate the job performance of 6-15 Social Enterprise team members across multiple CEO cities/sites while providing individualized instruction, training, coaching, and feedback to ensure performance improvement and productivity
    • Support the oversight and administration of contracted Scopes of Work, ensuring assignments are completed in a timely manner and with quality 
    • Identify opportunities for operational and process improvements, and create and implement appropriate improvement plans
    • Serve as subject matter expert for social enterprise operations in the region
    • Provide local Social Enterprise Managers and Site Supervisors with appropriate instruction, training and feedback as outlined by the job goals and CEO participant evaluations 
    • Keep an open and constant line of communication with Regional and Site Directors and/or other appropriate team members as it relates to crew operations and success
    • Ensure crews are using appropriate methods or materials that keep team members and passersby safe from harm and monitor working conditions for hazards
    • Ensure effective tracking and monitoring of supply inventory for work crews across the region and assist local Social Enterprise staff in managing crew needs and assessing the condition of all equipment for work site readiness
    • Partner with Deputy Executive Director, Social Enterprise to implement strategic plans for work crew process improvement and efficiencies
    • Regular travel between offices will be required at a cadence that supports effective management of the team and crew partners

    Crew Partner Management

    • Ensure strong, positive relationships with all crew customers across all sites, fostering communication and addressing any service concerns promptly to maintain long-term customer satisfaction, acting as a point of contact for crew partners
    • Oversee all operational and performance aspects of crew contracts
    • Serve as a liaison between CEO and worksite partners/customers, vocational staff, sales team, and other CEO staff
    • Partner with Sales Team to obtain and implement new work crew opportunities

    Team Support and Management

    • Hire, train and develop high-performing teams.
    • Build team environment of collaboration with Social Enterprise Managers and Site Supervisors across sites, focusing on disciplined pursuit of team goals and fostering communication, cooperation and celebration
    • Model CEO’s organizational values in management practice, empowering employees to lead through CEO values 
    • Model work structures that promote the well-being of employees
    • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities that will be assigned from time to time
          

Compensation and Benefits  

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to 82,000/annually. In an effort to be both equitable and transparent, CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, internal equity, and home office location in making a final determination on our salary offer.

MI is one evidence-based skill that reentry and human service professionals can utilize when supporting participants to achieve their goals.
