ob Title: Solar Installation Instructor – North Carolina
The Center for Energy Education (C4EE) is a 501(c )(3) nonprofit organization and a center for renewable energy research, industry innovation, and workforce development, which combine to demonstrate excellence in renewable energy as well as create economic growth. The Center is a hub for the renewable energy industry, a hands-on training ground for solar installations, a destination for students and families to learn about renewable energy, and a training facility which provides the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in the growing renewable energy industry.
The C4EE solar instructor is responsible for developing and conducting technical training programs to include utility scale solar construction classes, residential installation, operations and maintenance and other solar related courses. The ideal candidate will have significant solar install/operations experience, be technically driven, safety oriented, with a high-quality attention to detail and a commitment to growth and excellence in delivering training to a professional, adult audience.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead training and development programs in a classroom-style environment or virtual setting. Content includes solar site assessment, system design, wiring, racking, and mounting and electrical.
- Identify avenues for C4EE to partner with apprenticeship programs.
- Work closely with solar companies to ensure training programs are aligned with project needs.
- Build relationships with union representatives; identify areas for collaboration.
- Developed train the trainer programs for local colleges and other community organizations, instructors, etc.
- Coordinate with external vendors to facilitate and implement new training on newly emerging technologies: battery storage, microgrids EVs.
- Work closely with C4EE outreach manager to determine training content, schedules, and program delivery online and in person.
- Develop new training programs.
This position requires travel outside of North Carolina.
Education/Experience
- 5 years direct experience in solar installations
- Expertise in solar energy systems
- Proficiency in industry standards
- Knowledge of National Electric Code
- Instructional Design
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and work on feet for extended periods of time.
- Expert facilitator skilled in engaging audiences via presentation and/or learning activities.
- Familiarity with best practices in adult education
- Current knowledge of safety equipment and practices
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (desired but not required)
- BS/BA degree in training/development or industry related field preferred but not required.
- OSHA 1
- NABCEP certification
- Other manufacturer certification/training
