What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer/ Event Coordinator position at Center for Environmental Education and Discovery...?
The Volunteer/ Events Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all CEED events and coordinating off-site events.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- With the team, creating a schedule of events for the year and seeking off-site community events that fit within CEED’s mission
- Coordinate with staff, especially the program director, education coordinator, and marketing director, to plan the structure and staff and volunteer participation in events.
- Manage volunteer databases and recruiting.
- Keep track of volunteer participation and hours.
- Work closely with marketing to ensure the event is publicized with flyers, outreach, local ads, and social media pushes.
- Work with the executive director to ensure all permits and approvals have been obtained.
- Coordinating assignments in the committee to seek vendors and entertainers for events.
- Manage all entertainers and vendors for events and work closely with the Executive Administrative Assistant to ensure all appropriate paperwork is received and signed.
- Ensure all supplies and equipment are obtained for events.
- Either lead events or, when necessary, ensure another staff or board member is appropriately prepared to lead them.
- Availability on most Saturday mornings from June to September is required.
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
- Volunteer and Event experience required
- Management, event planning, or coordinating experience preferred
- A college degree is preferred but we will accept appropriate event experience in place of a college degree
- Excellent organizational skills
- Confidence in organizing training sessions
- Knowledge of Event protocol procedures or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of NYS, county, town, and fire marshal permits and approvals for certain types of events or willingness to learn.
- Seeking a motivated “go-getter” with a passion for the environment
- Familiarity and involvement with CEED is a plus.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
