Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Care:

    • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnostic interviews for children and adolescents with a range of psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and other behavioral or mental health issues.
    • Develop and oversee treatment plans, including medication management, psychotherapy, and referrals to additional services as needed.
    • Provide ongoing psychiatric care, monitoring progress, adjusting treatments, and responding to emergent needs.
  • Collaborative Teamwork:

    • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including therapists, psychologists, social workers, and medical staff to ensure comprehensive care and a holistic approach to treatment.
    • Participate in regular treatment team meetings, case conferences, and care coordination activities.
  • Program Participation:

    • Provide consultation and guidance on the development of therapeutic activities and interventions in both PHP and Outpatient settings.
    • Participate in the creation and delivery of psychoeducation programs for patients and their families.
  • Documentation and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, including HIPAA and state-specific mental health care laws.
  • Family Support and Education:

    • Engage families in the treatment process, providing education, support, and guidance on managing mental health issues at home.
    • Facilitate family therapy sessions as needed to support patient progress and improve family dynamics.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Board certification or board eligibility in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
    • Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey, CDS, DEA.
    • Experience in psychiatric care for children and adolescents, with a strong understanding of developmental, behavioral, and emotional disorders.
    • Experience in PHP and/or outpatient settings is preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong clinical skills in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
    • Knowledge and experience with evidence-based treatments for child and adolescent mental health conditions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and colleagues.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Additional Requirements:

    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA regulations.
    • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
