JOB TITLE : College Access Coordinator
DEPARTMENT : School-Based Programs
EXEMPTION : Non-Exempt or Exempt, dependent on education and experience
REPORTS TO : Program Director
SUPERVISES : Youth Counselors
Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, a nationally recognized social service agency in Sunset Park Brooklyn, is seeking a full-time year-round College Access Coordinator to work with high school students and their families in our diverse community and programs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to
- Provide 1 : 1 and small group college counseling sessions to fifty 12th-grade students to assist with college research, application preparation, resume writing, and scholarship and financial aid applications
- Provide ongoing guidance and services to up to 100 first- and second-year college students to support their transition
- Make referrals to other CFL departments such as benefits screening or tax preparation as needed
- Collaborate with CFL and SPHS Advisory Point People to purposely plan the 3-year scope and sequence of college and career-related advisory sessions for 9 - 11 grade students
- Schedule, coordinate, and chaperone college campus visits or field trips related to the college admission process for high school students and their families
- Work with CFL school-based directors to develop and implement workshops and events focused on college access and career exploration for students and their families across multiple CFL locations
- Build effective relationships with college admissions, financial aid, and other offices to advocate for students and assist them in reaching their higher education goals
- Track, evaluate, and report on student college application completion rates, admissions, and retention outcomes for ongoing program improvement and growth
- Stay current on trends and changes in college access and success, FAFSA, and other post-secondary issues
- Recruit and enroll eligible students in college success programs partnering with CFL such as Bottom Line, Posse, SYEP / CUNY Summer Melt Avoidance initiative, and summer bridge-type programs
- Represent CFLSP in external meetings for college access work such as United Neighborhood Houses and Student Success Network
- Supervise 2 youth counselors who will work 1 : 1 with high school seniors on college and financial aid applications
- Some evening and weekend hours are required throughout the year

55,000 - $65,000 per year
