Position Summary:
Center For Family Services is seeking a motivated and compassionate individual for the Residential Counselor position within the Together Youth Shelter Program. Together is a short-term, walk-in shelter, providing 24-hour emergency shelter for runaway, homeless, and neglected youth age 9-18. Together is a caring and healing home for children where they receive support and work on their future with the goal of family reunification. Some of the services Together provides include food, clothing, and medical services, individual, group, parent, and family counseling, advocacy, life skills training, and educational and tutoring services. The Residential Counselor is a key member of the program's team and provides youth supervision as necessary to meet 24-hour operational activities of the program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Residential Counselor works with and engages youths as well as assists in providing life skills education. They co-lead groups with therapists and case managers and ensure that program structure is consistent with stated goals and objectives. The Residential Counselor supervises programs for youth while ensuring structure within the programs. They ensure that daily living needs are met through directly working with youth.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma required
- Two years experience working with youth
- Must be available for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must successfully complete criminal background checks and drug testing
- Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years
- Vehicle with current insurance and registration
- Federal and State regulations require employees in this position to be fully vaccinated. According to the CDC, fully vaccinated means to have received the initial vaccination and at least one booster shot. As you apply for this position, you will be required to be fully vaccinated.
