Join us at CHIA and be a driving force in health policy impact! We are seeking a Manager of User Support & Data Strategy to join our Data Operations & Technology team. Reporting to the Chief Data Product Officer (CDPO), you will help produce and disseminate high-quality data sets and custom analyses. In this role, you will develop and optimize data products from our Acute Hospital Case Mix & Charge Database (Case Mix), All-Payer Claims Database (APCD), and other sources. Collaborate with internal teams, state agencies, data submitters, and researchers to enhance data delivery, ensuring our products are of the best quality, easily accessible, and actionable. You will also assist health systems, hospitals, insurance companies, and researchers in obtaining and using CHIA datasets, supporting the data request and application process. Your work will directly contribute to impactful health care policies and initiatives. As the Manager, User Support & Data Strategy, you will have the opportunity to : Support Data Users : Assist prospective data users in understanding CHIA’s data privacy and security requirements, communicate the potential uses and limitations of CHIA’s data products, and refine data applications to ensure accuracy and compliance. Prepare and present evaluations for internal and external committees, maintain a thorough understanding of CHIA data products, and collaborate on documentation packages. Build and maintain strong relationships to support data needs. Leverage Data Strategy Knowledge : Dive into exploratory data analysis to enhance quality control, normalize data, detect anomalies, and deepen understanding. Identify and prioritize improvement areas based on stakeholder needs and emerging research trends. Play a key role in shaping the product improvement roadmap that aligns with CHIA’s mission and goals. Collaborate with Data Operations and Information Security teams to implement cutting-edge practices for data governance, security, and privacy. Here are the important qualifications we are looking for : Data Analysis Expertise : 5 or more years of experience using statistical software packages (e.g., R, SAS, SQL) to analyze large data sets, including ICD-9 / ICD-10 coded data and health care claims (e.g., APCD, Medicare Fee-for-Service, MarketScan Market Clarity). Research Background : Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with research methods, with a strong understanding of health care and health conditions. Tech-Driven Professional : Possess familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, providing a crucial advantage in conveying complex data comprehensibly. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential for seamless communication and reporting. Communication Skills : Proven writing experience (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, government reports, grant applications) and excellent interpersonal skills to foster relationships across multiple teams and organizations. Regulatory Knowledge : Experience with data privacy and security standards (e.g., HIPAA) and an understanding of state and federal healthcare reporting requirements (e.g., APCD, HIE) are advantageous. Health Care Knowledge : Experience working with or within a state or federal agency focused on health care, health insurance, or public health a plus! Educational Background : A degree or similar relevant experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Care Analytics, Public Health with an Analytics concentration, or a related field.
