What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist position at CENTER FOR HEALTH MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY?
1. Proactively greets patients upon arrival
2. Checks patients in; during every check in, registers new patients and ensures accuracy of existing patient demographics and forms by collecting patient information including personal and financial information
3. Collects copays from patients and prepares cash reconciliation sheet at the end of the day
4. Checks patients out; during check out, schedule any necessary follow up appointments, labs, radiology and pending referrals
5. Assists patients in person and via telephone with questions or requests or directs them to appropriate department/location for further assistance
6. Keeps an eye on patient flow to ensure minimized wait time and notifies center staff of waiting patients, if necessary
7. Protects patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA laws by make sure health information is secured and not visible to other patients, and by logging off the computer before leaving it unattended
8. Other front desk duties as assigned
Examples of required documentation of patient demographics include but are not limited to:
Name (spelled correctly), communication preference (email, text, or phone), pharmacy, responsible party, PCP, required referral, address, phone number (primary and secondary), and insurance details.
