What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Specialist position at Center for Human Development?
The Center for Human Development, (CHD) is seeking a Housing Specialist to join our Diversion, Shelter and Housing (DSH) team.
Your role as a Housing Specialist :
The Housing Specialist will work with families to find secure permanent housing. CHD follows The Housing First model. This service model addresses homelessness by providing permanent housing to people experiencing homelessness as quickly as possible. The Housing Specialist will provide a supportive relationship to clients in need of services that address mental health, domestic violence, and substance abuse. Additionally, they will work with families and staff to support a safe, positive, and comfortable shelter environment that minimizes the trauma of a family’s homelessness.
REQUIRMENTS:
- Experience working with homeless families, including families with mental health, domestic violence and substance abuse challenges, preferred
- 3-5 years of housing search experience and/or case management experience required
- Knowledge of Home-BASE and EA shelter systems preferred
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bilingual(Spanish/English)applicants strongly preferred
- Reliable, registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check
- Approved criminal background check(CORI)

Shift available: Full time, 40hrs. Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
