The Center for Human Development, (CHD) is seeking Lead Residential Counselors to join our Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC). Located in Chicopee, MA, CHD's CBHC provides urgent behavioral health care through outpatient behavioral health clinic, crisis services and crisis stabilization.
Your role as a Crisis Stabilization - Lead Residential Counselor :
CHD'S Community Behavioral Health Center offers both a Youth (13-17) and Adult (18 ) Crisis Stabilization Unit. Crisis stabilization is a short-term, voluntary program offering intensive behavioral health stabilization as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization. Services include bur are not limited to : crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, nursing care, individual and group therapy, peer support, short-term treatment planning, discharge planning, and coordination of care with service providers. The Lead Residential Counselor will lead the shift while providing support to direct care staff and clients.
Essential Functions include :
- Providing support and supervision to clients
- Running or delegating staff running house meetings
- Assuring the daily schedule are followed
- Supervision of Residential Counselors
- Updating the MABHA website during shift
- Assisting clinician in communication with collateral contacts
- Collaboration with MCI around admissions
- Leading change of shift meeting for on-coming staff including making sure staff has arrived on time and are aware of client information and any incoming admissions or pending discharges
- Run skills group for clients during shift
- Supporting counselors in understanding and utilizing the electronic health record
- Run insurance for all clients
- Ensure clients insurance information is correctly put in electronic health record
- Ensure clients are enrolled and dis-enrolled in Crisis Stabilization
- Ensure all policies, procedures and protocols are being followed appropriately
- Assisting in onboarding and training of new and existing staff
- Serve to model professional service delivery, where client safety and trauma-informed care is held in highest regard
- All other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

The ideal Crisis Stabilization - Lead Residential Counselor will have previous experience working with youth and adults in the mental health field. As well as the ability to problem solve, de-escalate, and manage conflict. Flexibility with schedule availability is necessary, as the CBHC is open 7 days per week, with the intention of offering the right service at the right time. Currently we are seeking candidates with availability for1st and 2nd shifts on weekdays and weekends.
Pay rate is $25.50 / hr. Along with a benefit package that includes Dental, Health and Life insurance. Paid time off, earned vacation time and paid holidays just to name a few.
