Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking a Program Manager of Peer Support Services to work in our Outpatient Behavioral Health Services.
Your role as a Program Manager of Peer Support Services:
CHD’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Services (OBHS) Division is seeking a motivated and inspiring individual to provide management of Peer Support Services & supervision of Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) and Recovery Coaches in our Central and Southern Regions. Clinics within these regions include the Community Behavioral Health Center in Chicopee, Appleton Street Clinic in Holyoke, State Street Clinic in Springfield, Pine Street Clinic in Springfield and the Park Street Clinic in West Springfield.
The Program Manager of Peer Support Services promotes recovery-oriented services for individuals enrolled in OBHS programs with a focus on ensuring services are welcoming, supportive, and responsive to individuals and their families who utilize them. The Program Manager offers feedback and consultation to the integrated treatment teams. Peer Support Services staff convey hope and provide education, including information about recovery, rehabilitation, and crisis self-management.
Responsibilities Include:
- Development, management and operations of CHD OBHS peer support services that develops and maintains peer-to-peer support services and activities provided for and by people in recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges.
- Provides direct individual and group supervision to Certified Peer Specialists and Recovery Coaches within the regions.
- Develops activities, programming and resources that support people in recovery to achieve their self-identified goals.
- Offers support to people receiving services to find their voice and identify wants, needs, goals and dreams.
- Offers support to identify challenges and barriers to self-determined wants and needs, as well as strategies to overcome them.
- Promotes advocacy and/or support in preparation for and/or during a variety of the formal or informal meetings (e.g., treatment planning, medical appointments, employment services, etc.) and with a primary focus on ensuring the voice and wishes of the individual(s) receiving services are heard.
- Assists with basic, day-to-day tasks (e.g., food shopping and preparation, etc.) as makes sense and in ways that are consistent with the values and nature of peer support.
- Communicates, represents and promotes the perspective of the person receiving services, serving as an advocate in collaboration with the person.
- Creates framework for and assists in facilitating mutual support and self-help groups and/or supports people receiving services in the development of their own leadership and facilitation skills.
- Promotes the team’s learning and understanding of each person’ cultural identity and choices.
- Works with individuals to develop or strengthen natural supports outside of the human service or mental health systems.
- Participates in and promotes division and agency wide adoption of these services in accordance with the respective codes of ethics and provider specs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have lived experience as a person in recovery that has navigated their own behavioral health challenges
- Must be a Certified Peer Specialist within the state of Massachusetts
- Must have experience with Certified Peer Specialist and Recovery Coaching services.
- Must have over two years of experience as a Peer Support Services supervisor
- High School Diploma Required
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Salary is $60,000/year. This is a full time Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm opportunity.
