What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Support Specialist position at Center for Human Development?
The Center for Human Development, (CHD) is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. This position provides recovery support services to clients with dual diagnosis; mental illness and substance use disorder and will assist clients in achieving sustained recovery.
Your role as a Recovery Support Specialist:
- The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for:
- Facilitate client access to recovery-oriented substance use disorder treatment, resources, and community recovery groups
- Serves as a liaison to treatment systems and a more holistic care model through providing support across multiple systems of care
- Maintain ongoing client support regardless of client relapse and will serve as a motivator, ally, role model, problem-solver, and advocate for clients with substance use disorders
- Provide curriculum focused recovery groups on the disease model of addiction
- Understanding community culture to address the barriers to successful recovery, and bridge the gap to community resources and treatment options
REQUIRMENTS:
- 1-2 years of experience in substance use, mental health services and/or human services field required
- Ability to work with and set appropriate boundaries with clients who may have mental health, substance abuse, and/or domestic violence issues
- Work closely with a team of direct service and supervisory staff, as well as an ability to work with a diverse group of people
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for business purpose

Schedule:
Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, but some evening and weekend hours may be required
